Start small when making change.

One small pebble on a path
"Start wherever you are... and start small." - Rita Bailey

At the beginning of each new year, it is common to get caught up in ambitious and elaborate plans for reinventing oneself or for making change. It is crucial to consider your current position, past experiences, and the small, manageable steps needed to achieve a goal. To succeed, when making change, start small and possibly scalable.

For instance, if you have decided to learn something new, it is wise to begin with 'how to bake a cake' before contemplating opening a bakery. The same principle applies if you wish to improve your health and well-being. Begin with a small step. Maybe it is moving your body once a week or preparing one homemade meal per week. If you are already there scale up; perhaps walk three days a week with a walking buddy or add a dance class. Or maybe you decide to add food prep on Sundays for 2-3 homemade dinners per week. You get the idea.

The key to success is keeping things realistic and manageable.

A failed attempt at opening a bakery this year may hinder your progress but mastering the art of baking a cake this month may inspire you to learn to bake one new thing a month all year.

Wishing you success in the New Year.
